‘Think-20’, a preparatory meeting as part of the ‘G-20’ summit, starts today in Bhopal

According to the information provided by the state government, at least 94 representatives from various overseas countries, in addition to intellectuals, economists and civil servants, will meet in a two-day meeting (January 16-17) at the Kushabhau Thakre Convention Center in Bhopal.

“Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will attend the inaugural session of the meeting, where experts and foreign guests will discuss various topics, including ‘Global Governance with LiFE, Values, and Wellbeing,'” the government said in an official statement on Monday.

Other speakers at the opening session include Indonesian Deputy Minister of Political Affairs, Law, Defense and Security Slamet Soedarsono, Chief Coordinator for the Indian G20 Presidency Harsh Vardhan Shringla and NITI Aayog Vice President Suman Bery.

The session will also be addressed by Sachin Chaturvedi, Director General of the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), and Sujan Chinoy, Director General of the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defense Studies and Analysis.

In addition, on the first day there will also be 10 parallel sessions on various topics, including institutional framework, investing in children as an investment in the future, financing resilient cities and societies, transformation of economic systems and one on health, well-being and traditional medicine.

“Think-20 is an important part of the G-20 engagement groups in which the world’s research institutions discuss G20-related issues. We are very well placed to provide solutions that the world wants to see as the G20 address, but also to to be bold, inclusive and result-oriented steps under our presidency,” said Harshvardhan Shringla, the Center-appointed Chief Coordinator for Think-20.
