Coal India is optimistic about pursuing projects through MSY mode

The MDOs would excavate and deliver coal to the companies in accordance with the approved mining plan, sources said.

MDGs, sources say, bring mutually beneficial technology infusion, economically viable operations and increased production to the table.

Since the contracts offered to them are long-term, allied infrastructure in mining projects would also be developed by these private players.

They will facilitate rehabilitation and resettlement issues, land acquisition, green clearances and coordination with state and central pollution agencies, sources added.

These nine projects have a production capacity of almost 127 million tons per year.

The CIL is tracking a total of 15 greenfield projects, including the aforementioned nine projects, which it plans to implement through MDGs. The remaining six projects are in various stages of tendering.

The ministry intends to source reputable MDOs from coal mines, through open global tenders, and to increase domestic coal production to minimize dependence on imports.

MDO’s contract contract term is for 25 years or my life, whichever is shorter.
