The Sandman on Netflix tells the story of Dream, who tries to repair the damage his centuries-long absence has done to his realm. Based on Neil Gaiman’s comic book series of the same name, it tells an intriguing and sometimes strange story that is sure to keep you entertained. Similar themes and concepts to those in “The Sandman” have appeared in other well-known television programs. The most obvious to choose from after finishing the adventures of Morpheus are the adaptations of Gaiman’s ‘American Gods’, ‘Good Omens’ and ‘Lucifer’. Brand New Cherry Flavor (2021)

The characters in “The Sandman” and the peculiar situations they often find themselves in are among its most confusing features. But since the plot takes place in a fantastic universe, everything makes sense. However, “Brand New Cherry Flavor” on Netflix pushes the threshold of strange. It’s a story of a young filmmaker who wants to make her debut film, and it’s set in LA. When she meets people who are not what they seem, her vision of Hollywood and everything that happens there changes completely. The horror-themed series is undoubtedly fun to watch.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018-2020)

Netflix has a particular fondness for comic book adaptations, evidenced by the popularity of these programs. One such TV show is “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” with a tone quite similar to “The Sandman.” It tells the story of a girl who is both a human and a witch. With the best of both worlds within her, she becomes the center of the fight as she struggles to maintain the harmony between light and dark while preventing Satan from stealing her soul. The show’s tension is heightened by the horror and mystical components, and the unexpected twists and turns keep the audience on edge.

Constantine (2014)

The fact that Johanna Constantine is the only character to appear in two different timelines suggests that she plays an important role in the plot of ‘The Sandman’. Likely Stories by Neil Gaiman (2016)

Neil Gaiman is now a major player in all storytelling genres. He has worked on films and TV productions that regularly adapt his literary works, as well as best-selling books and genre-defying comics. Neil Gaiman’s Likely Stories should suffice if you want to know more about his stories but don’t want to commit to a TV show with hour-long episodes just yet. There are only four episodes in this miniseries, all of which are adapted to different stories and tell a compelling plot that could only be imagined by Gaiman.

Never (1996)

The fictional realms on which “The Sandman” builds his mythology are worlds that are not our own. It has several realms that no one knows about until they are needed for the plot. Gaiman also creates a universe that coexists with our own, but is murky to most people in “Neverwhere”. Everything in the London-based story is split between London Above and London Below. The story begins with a man from Above trying to help a mysterious girl named Door who gets trapped in Below.

The Stand at the End (2010–2012)

The wishes and desires of individuals are one of the main themes of ‘The Sandman’. Everyone is motivated by a dream, something they ardently want in their life, and they are often willing to do anything to achieve it. But each of them discovers that there is usually a cost involved. This idea was fleshed out in ‘The Booth at the End’. Set in an unfamiliar restaurant, it tells the story of several customers who enter the establishment and occupy a booth at the very end to meet an enigmatic man who has the ability to fulfill their desires. In return, they must perform a duty to him that may be the simplest thing they have ever accomplished or the most heinous deed they could have ever imagined. What price are you willing to pay to achieve the desired result?

The Fades (2011)

There is often impending catastrophic disaster that must be avoided at all costs as one of the underlying themes in Gaiman’s stories. It could be the Dream Vortex in “The Sandman” or the antichrist child from “Good Omens.” When it comes to the end of the world, Gaiman’s inventive talent always offers something new. The program you should watch is “The Fades” if you want something similar. It tells the story of a small child who experiences visions of the end of the world and has the ability to see ghosts, who become increasingly trapped in the living world as the ascension approaches. While the show only had one season, it was world-building enough to keep viewers interested.

The Wizards (2015-2020)

Magic plays an important role in ‘The Sandman’. When a group of wizards try to capture Death, they end up with her younger brother, Dream, instead. Even though the novel contains extra fantasy aspects, the wizards are quickly forgotten. The movie “The Magicians” is the one to see if you’re looking for something that puts more of a focus on magic and secret organizations. It depicts the stories of two people. One of them is accepted into a university that offers magic classes, and the other tries to study magic elsewhere after being denied entry.
